Monday mornings

Bible Overview - Tracing major themes through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and understanding how the whole Bible fits together.

Books of the Bible - In-depth study and analysis of individual books in the Old and New Testaments.

Grasping God’s Word - Understanding how to handle God’s word for teaching and applying the different kinds of literature of the Bible, from a first reading of a passage to a finished talk, Bible study or sermon.

 

Tuesday mornings

Systematic Theology - Understanding the great truths of the Christian faith including the Bible, the Trinity, creation, sin, atonement, prayer, the church, judgment and eternity.

Engaging with God’s World - Understanding how to use the Bible for worldview apologetics and ethical issues: including suffering, race, HIV/AIDS, other religions, African traditional religion, sexuality, marriage, science, and issues surrounding the beginning and end of life.

Grasping God’s Word (OT) - How to understand and teach OT narrative, law, poetry, prophecy, and wisdom literature.

 

Wednesday mornings

Christian Leadership & Church Planting - Developing skills to be a leader of God’s people: including spiritual development, mission, the practical & cultural aspects of church planting, and leadership skills.

Grasping God’s Word (NT) - How to understand and teach the letters, the gospels, Acts and Revelation.

Preaching Workshop - Learning how to communicate God’s word faithfully and effectively. Each week a student gives a talk and receives constructive feedback.

 

Thursday mornings - Elective 1

Woman Serving Christ Course

Biblical Womanhood - Growing women who are equipped and inspired to handle the Bible, by tracing the major themes and passages in the Bible that relate to women and womanhood.

Women Engaging with God’s World - Growing women in their ability to bring the Bible to bear on specific issues that women face in our world including family, work, church leadership, HIV/AIDS, abuse, body image and marriage.

Communicating God’s Word - Equipping women to communicate God’s word effectively in a variety of settings.  The course includes practical workshops, with constructive feedback.

 

Thursday mornings - Elective 2

Engaging with God’s World Course *

Building Bridges - Developing skills to engage with people and culture, building a bridge with Biblical Christianity. Using apologetics and worldviews to connect meaningfully to the Gospel in everyday conversation and current issues.

Christian Cultural Leadership - Forming and applying a Biblical perspective on contemporary issues (ethics, poverty, spirituality, the media, suffering, work, sexuality, identity and others) in order to be able to make a positive contribution to our society.

God’s Word in God’s World - Applying Bible passages to today’s issues and to various aspects of individual and community life. Understanding our cultural contexts, and how to faithfully address the issues from God’s word.

* This course builds on the Tuesday core “Engaging with God’s World” module.

A limited number of partial bursaries is available.

Graduation requirements

 

· Attendance of all Mon, Tue & Wed classes (Thur optional)

· 4 assignments (1 per term)

· 4 devotions (1 per term)

· 4 talks/sermons (1 per term)

· All fees paid in full.

Full time vs part time

 

· Full time is Mon, Tue & Wed (and optionally Thur).

· Part time is any combination of days, but is best started with Mondays.

· Generally, Mon is a pre-requisite for Thur Elective 1.

· Generally, Mon & Tue are pre-requisites for Thur Elective 2.
