1 Timothy 2:1-4 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Today, in the midst of our mourning, the country remembered and celebrated Nelson Mandela's life. As Desmond Tutu put it, 'God was so good to us in South Africa by giving us Nelson Mandela to be our president at a crucial moment in our history... he taught a divided nation to come together'. In Paul's words we have been able to live relatively peaceful and quiet lives, and been able to get on with loving and serving our Lord and spreading the Word. Please pray that the Lord raises up more leaders for this nation who govern with diligence and for peace.
