We are in week 5 of term 3 and all the students are attending well. Our first-year students are doing their Preaching Workshops this week and although they are nervous to stand up in front of the class, they are doing extremely well. JBC lecturers are pleased with their progress. We are enjoying seeing the intense change in many of their lives and hearts as they learn more about God’s Word.
We have had two international guest speakers visiting college in the last two weeks.
Glenn Nesbitt visiting from the UK, teaching on a one-day conference on ‘Knowing God’ with our first-year students. Glenn, Curate at St Ebbe’s Church in Oxford and previous staff member and lecturer at JBC, went to our three campuses including Soweto evenings looking at key doctrines about God. The students enjoyed looking deeper into God’s character & it’s implications. It was a great blessing!
Our second-year students enjoyed having Rev. Graham Wintle coming from Australia who spent two days looking at the book of Ephesians. Graham, who has been creating material over the last few decades on Ephesians, went deep into the book which encouraged the students greatly. There was lively discussion on sections of the book which was wonderful.
We also plan to have our Gospel Partnership lunches, Alexandra Campus on 17th August, and Auckland Park and Soweto Campuses on Wednesday 7th September 2022. This is where we enjoy fellowship with a number of local pastors and ministries to introduce and explain what JBC is all about.
JBC will be having its Annual Mission week at the end of this term 3. We will be hearing from Open Doors, OMF, AIM & other individuals sharing the joys & opportunities in both local and international mission. Students will have the chance to dress up in traditional clothes & will end with a lunch together. We are looking forward to Mission Week & seeing God excite students & staff about mission.
